ABB, a company specializing in technologies for power engineering and automotive industry, is to invest 63 million in an engine manufacturing plant in the Lódz Special Economic Zone.
On September 2nd a foundation stone for the ABB plant was laid in Aleksandrów £ódzki. The factory will to be equipped with three production lines and plans to produce 45 thousand engines a year. It is estimated that by mid 2009 round 160 people will find employment in the factory. Mr Gryszka, ABB President emphasises that it is the first ABB’s plant constructed from scratch: “Thanks to the investment Poland becomes one of the more significant centres of electric engine production”, ABB President said.
The company has an ambitious plan to finish the plant by March 31st 2009 and start production by the end of the first half of 2009. ABB wants to recruit employees form the local labour market . Morover, the company has plans to enter into co-operation with an Aleksandrów-based vocational school. The co-operation would include internships and possible employment in the positions vital for the successful management of the factory.
The ABB Group gives employment to 115 thousand people in over 100 countries all over the world. In Poland 2300 people work in four factories and one research centre managed by the group.
