Cargo turnover by Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company (part of Global Ports Investments Ltd., Russia) rose 14% in January-August 2008 to 276,659 TEU. In August the company handled 34,164 TEU (+5%).
In January-August 2008 the VSC terminal processed 109,506 TEU export containers, which is 21% more than in the same period in 2007. In August export transfers totaled 15,549 TEU (+22%).
The transfer of imported containers in January-August 2008 reached 160,406 TEU, a 16% increase over the same period in 2007. In August 2008, 17,946 import TEU (-4%) passed through the VSC terminal.
Intercoastal container transfers in January-August 2008 dropped 35% to 6,359 TEU. Over this period, 388 TEU of transit cargo were processed (– 86%).
Cargo flow at Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company on the basis of the results for August 2008 breaks down as follows: 58% – import, 39.6% – export, 2.3% - intercoastal, 0.1% – transit.
