Work is now underway on a high efficiency coal loader for Slovenian company Luka Koper; planned for installation in a year from now, the new loader is rated at 2,000 tph and can handle ships up to Panamax size.
Through the delivery and installation of a high efficiency coal loader, the MacGREGOR Group’s Bulk Handling division will meet the increased material-handling needs of Slovenian concern Luka Koper. The Koper-based company contracted MacGREGOR at the end of August this year for the unit and it is on schedule to be completed by the end of October 2009, underlying MacGREGOR’s capabilities for short delivery times.
The company has contracted MacGREGOR – part of Cargotec Corporation – for a turnkey delivery of the coal loader, which is rated at 2,000 tph and able to maintain this capacity throughout a loading operation. The system will be installed in Koper, Slovenia, and will be built in Europe. It will be able to handle ships up to Panamax size.
Jonas Fack, sales director, MacGREGOR Bulk Terminals & Mobile Unloaders, says that: “Luka Koper need a system that can provide increased loading capacity at the port and it chose MacGREGOR Bulk for this task because we offered the best balance between quality, performance and price. “
He adds that: “Aside from performance, the main advantages of the MacGREGOR system is that it is able to be adapted to suit the customer’s existing set-up; it can accommodate various ship sizes; it is light weight; and we can offer customers short delivery times.”
