HHI has world’s largest transformer production capacity

Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has completed construction of a new transformer factory with an annual production capacity of 30,000MVA. With this new facility, HHI has the world's largest transformer production capacity at 100,000MVA.
HHI's 100,000MVA capacity is 125% of the combined capacity of all Korean power plants.
The new factory has 12,100 m2 of total floor space and is equipped with advanced, vibration-proof facilities and test machinery. It can produce Transformers of up to a maximum of 400kV-class.
HHI has facilities for 300kV, 400kV, 500kV and 800kV-class transformers, enhancing the company's competitive power and ability to adjust to the market fluctuations in Asia, America, Africa, and Europe. HHI also has a production facility in Bulgaria.
HHI entered the European market in 2007, signing a long-term contract with the largest European power company. HHI has continued to increase its European market share, which includes the United Kingdom, Ireland, Greece, Russia, and Turkey.
HHI built its first transformer in 1977. By September of 2008 the company had produced an aggregate of 500,000MVA in Transformers, which is seven times the total production capacity of all Korean power plants combined.
The company has exported High-Voltage Transformers to 70 countries since the early 1980s. HHI expects more than $500 million in exports, an increase of 50 percent over last year. The current goal of the company is to become the world's third largest Transformer manufacturer with annual sales of 1 trillion.
