Project of construction of broad-gauged railway is supported by the Slovak and Austrian governments, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated after meeting with Austria's Chancellor Werner Faymann in Bratislava on Thursday.
- We're waiting for the results of an expert evaluation, which should be ready within the next few months and which will be crucial in terms of the final decision,- explained Fico, adding that he has asked Faymann for support by constructing a bridge over the Morava River that would connect Bratislava's district Zahorska Ves and Angern, Austria.
According to Railway Market, during the meeting Fico and Faymann also discussed the effects of the global economic crisis on the countries.
- There's a lot of similarities between Slovakia and Austria. Austria also does not cut back on its social programs and we're looking for a way how to cut down on the state's expenditures instead, - said Fico.
