Eurostar held their annual Sales Awards to recognise their travel partners for their fortitude and exceptional contribution to what ended up being an exceptional and highly challenging year.
The awards were held on 30th April 2009 at the East Wintergarden set in the heart of London's Canary Wharf. Over 250 key industry figures attended the evening, which recognised key organisations and individuals who have helped Eurostar deliver excellent growth during 2008 pre the September Channel Tunnel incident and for their strong and committed support and understanding through the subsequent months.
Support for the awards was phenomenal, with record numbers of submissions received for the 10 categories across a wide range of Eurostar’s partnership base including corporate clients, TMCs, Tour Operators and overseas distribution partners. The winners were chosen by a panel of top judges across the industry from Visit Britain, the Institute of Travel and Tourism, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Argate Consulting and Amadeus.
The awards themselves were presented by Eurostar’s Chief Executive, Richard Brown.
Emma Harris, Director of Eurostar Sales and Marketing, said: “The Channel Tunnel fire in September 2008 and the disrupted operation we had to manage between then and February 2009 combined with the global recession has meant we’ve all been on quite a journey together in the last eight months. Our trade partners have been fantastically supportive and this has undoubtedly reinforced our relationships and made these Awards even more important.”
“We would like to congratulate each individual and organisation who has won one these Awards and again thank all of our partners for their continued commitment and support.”
