For the fourth time in as many years, SMA und Partner AG, whose speciality is railway planning, increased turnover by about 20%. Turnover for 2008 was 9.3 million Swiss francs, and the number of employees rose proportionally to 48.
All early indicators show that even in the current depressing economic environment, SMA's development will continue to be positive, though perhaps not quite at the recent rate.
To secure its long-term future, SMA has begun a comprehensive redesign of its planning tool, Viriato, which should be complete within two years.
SMA has just released its 2008 annual report, "After 21 years, present in 21 countries". It surveys SMA's activities and describes the broad spectrum of the firm's clientele, the questions it addresses, its methodologies and the solutions that SMA has been delivering since its founding.
