CTD Container-Transport-Dienst GmbH opened a branch office in Kornwestheim on 1 July 2009, extending its range of high-grade trucking services in the hinterland of German seaports. Already located in
Hamburg, Bremen and Berlin, HHLA’s intermodal subsidiary is now represented in the Stuttgart region as well.
With its new branch office in Kornwestheim, near Stuttgart, from 1 July 2009 CTD is expanding its range of trucking services in Germany and in European long-haul traffic. “With this new location, we are improving
hinterland links for the major German seaports and for the first time offering our trucking services directly in the Stuttgart region,” says Marcus Bönning, Managing Director of CTD Container-Transport-Dienst
GmbH. After Bremen and Berlin, Kornwestheim is the HHLA trucking subsidiary’s third branch office.
The just opened branch specializes in delivering final-leg runs.
Containers transported on by rail from the overseas port to Kornwestheim then reach their final destination by truck from this heavily used container rail terminal. “CTD has engaged two new staff for looking
after customers and planning traffic movements on the spot,” says Ralph Frankenstein, head of the new branch office in Kornwestheim and also CTD’s Sales Manager in Hamburg.
With its Transfracht, Metrans and Polzug rail subsidiaries, HHLA transports containers throughout the Port of Hamburg’s hinterland in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as Central and Eastern Europe.
CTD’s branch in Kornwestheim will reinforce this existing hinterland network in the Stuttgart region, covering container transport flexibly down to the last mile. With its strategic range of reliable pre-carriage
and on-carriage truck runs supplementing transport by rail, HHLA’s Intermodal segment is boosting the quality and capacity of the transport chain. Here HHLA is standardizing work processes to be able to offer
customers an even better transport and information service. In addition, HHLA is setting up highly efficient terminals and depots in the main centres of economic activity.
