In May 2009 a total of 86 043 used motor vehicles were registered in Austria. This figure marks an increase of 2.7% over the same period of the previous year and a decrease by 21.1% compared to April 2009.
Increases were observed for almost all types of vehicle; the number of registrations of used passenger cars (76.3% of all registered used vehicles) increased by 2.6%; that of diesel-driven passenger cars (54.5% of the passenger cars) increased by 11.1%; the registrations of used petrol-driven passenger cars (45.4%) decreased by 6.0%.
Among the Top 10 brands of used passenger cars, Audi (+16.6%), BMW (+5.9%), Mercedes (+4.6%), Renault (+4.1%), VW (+3.8%) and Fiat (+3.3%) documented positive results. Brands like Opel (-4.3%), Mazda (-3.6%), Ford (-2.2%) and Peugeot (-1.3%) showed a decrease (-1.3%).
Registrations of used lorries reported an increase by 15.0%, the increase of agricultural and forestry motor tractors represented 12.9% in the recently reported period.
