AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC), Volga-Dnepr Group’s scheduled cargo airline, successfully operated its first flight to Kabul (Afghanistan) on the 14th of July.
From now on every Tuesday Boeing 747-200/300 will operate scheduled charter from Frankfurt to Kabul, arriving in Afghanistan capital early in the morning the next day (Wednesday). The aircraft can carry almost 100 tons on board allowing customers’ cargo to be safely delivered to the heart of Middle East. The first flight has been smoothly performed with armoured vehicles on board which have been handled by local company Ariana in the airport of Kabul. Dennis Gliznoutsa, Group Commercial Director, noted that “despite the fact that volumes are down worldwide Middle East is still a vast and attractive marketplace for the Group. During these unpredictable times we find Kabul deployment very important step in ABC activity”.
According to Tatyana Arslanova, ABC’s Executive Senior Vice President, Strategy, Marketing and Sales, “expansion of ABC network to Middle East is another example of its flexibility in following customers’ needs.”
She also believes “it is a good example of two businesses synergy (that of Volga-Dnepr and AirBridgeCargo), where ABC has followed more than 10 year successful experience of An-124 and Il-76’s operations to Afghanistan performed by Volga-Dnepr Airlines.”
