According to Railway Market - CEE Review, the company GySEV plans to become a holding in the next 2 years. What's more, it also wants to take over additional 600-650 km of railway lines from state-owned MÁV.
Lines, which are to be taken over and modernized by GySEV, are considered by MÁV to be not profitable. Currently the Austrian-Hungarian company owns approx. 500 km of railway lines in Hungary.
Napi Gazdaság newspaper reports, that GySEV is interested in the take over of 72 km line Győr – Szombathely, 79 km line Győr – Veszprém, 111 km line Hegyeshalom – Csorna – Szombathely, 102 km line Szombathely – Zalaszentiván – Nagykanizsa, 18 km line Szombathely – Kőszeg, 23 km line Zalalövő – Körmend and 49 km line Rédics – Zalaegerszeg.
