According to Limun, Serbian Railways currently has 19,400 workers. The CEO of the company, Milovan Markovic, informed, that the railway had 20,130 employees at the end of 2008. More redundancies are to come.
In July, a total of 680 workers have left the state-run Serbian Railways voluntarily with a right to compensations. According to Markovic, the company received RSD 852m (EUR 9m) from state funds, competent ministries and Serbian government for the payment of 1,300 severance pays.
