JAL Group makes revisions to route and flight frequency

The JAL Group announced today, revisions made to a portion of its international passenger and cargo route and flight frequency plan for the second half of FY2009.

International passenger
The planned reduction in flight frequency between Osaka (Kansai) and Seoul (Incheon) that was announced last month will be modified; from an initial reduction of 14 weekly flights to 7, the service will now be discontinued and replaced with an increase in operation to Seoul's other airport, Gimpo International Airport. With effect from October 25, 2009, 7 flights a week scheduled to operate with the Boeing 737-800 will be added to the Osaka (Kansai)-Seoul (Gimpo) route, raising the weekly flight frequency from 7 to 14.

International cargo
JAL will discontinue the service of 3 weekly freighter flights between Tokyo (Narita) and London via Amsterdam, from the second half of this fiscal year. Additionally, the present cargo route of Tokyo (Narita)-Frankfurt, served by 3 freighter flights per week, will be revised such that it connects via Amsterdam, from October 25, 2009. While freighter flights to Amsterdam and Frankfurt will be maintained, JAL will effectively utilize belly space available on 2 daily Boeing 777 passenger flights operating between Tokyo (Narita) and London, to continue catering to the needs of cargo services on that route. JAL is conducting ongoing review of its passenger and cargo network and is prepared to respond with further amendments to routes, fleet and flight frequencies in efforts to maximize profitability while maintaining high standards of service to our customers.
