Two Sofia-Istanbul trains will be temporarily put on hold because of floods in Turkey, Bulgarian state railway company BDZ said on September 10 2009.
These trains, part of the international Balkan express route, usually leave Sofia for Istanbul at 7.10pm and 10pm.
Bus routes from the Turkish border checkpoint with Bulgaria at Kapakule to Istanbul were also put on hold.
On September 9, it was announced that the Balkan express will travel only from Sofia to Kapakule because of flooding in Istanbul and passengers will continue with buses. But on September 10, because the situation failed to improve, this service was also cancelled, the Sofia Echo reports.
