CMA CGM to raise freight rates

CMA CGM has announced it will raise freight rates to a "sustainable level" on its services between India, Pakistan and Europe as part of a continuing rate restoration programme that aims to "provide its customers with the same reliable and efficient services to which they are accustomed," the carrier said in a statement.
New rate increases will apply to all cargo and commodities moving westbound and eastbound between India, Pakistan, Europe and the Mediterranean, effective from October 1.
The increase for westbound cargo moving from India and Pakistan to Europe and the Mediterranean is US$250 per TEU dry container and $400 per FEU dry and high-cube.
There will be a new surcharge on overweight containers of more than 23 tons (including the weight of the container) of $150 per dry TEU.
Eastbound from Europe and the Mediterranean to India and Pakistan the new surcharge increase is: $150 per TEU dry container and $300 per FEU dry and high-cube.
