Air India is official carrier for Commonwealth Games

Air India today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Commonwealth Organizing Committee for being the Official Partner Airline for the Commonwealth Games being held in Delhi in October 2010. Air India thus earned the distinction of being the first Indian and global sponsoring company for the Commonwealth Games.
The MoU was signed by Mr Suresh Kalmadi – Chairman of Organizing Committee on behalf of the Commonwealth Games and Mr Arvind Jadhav – Chairman and Managing Director, Air India at a function held in New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Jadhav said that it was a great honour for the national carrier to have been given the opportunity and responsibility of flying the athletes and officials for this prestigious mega sporting event. He was confident that the participating athletes and officials would have an unmatched travelling experience on board the new state-of-the-art fleet of the airline. Mr Jadhav also mentioned that Air India would be creating very special and affordable holiday packages, on its vast network, for the participants which would give them an excellent opportunity to experience Incredible India in all its glory.
Air India has, incidentally been a pioneer patron of sports and has been promoting sports and sportsmen in the country for over five decades.
