Greek Aegean Airlines has become the latest addition to the list of carriers doing business at Vienna International Airport (VIA), Austrian Times informed.
VIA bosses said yesterday (Mon) the company has launched direct connections between Vienna and Athens five times a week.
The first flight on the route was last Thursday.
VIA chiefs recently said passenger numbers at the airport fell in November by 1.8 per cent year on year to 1.38 million.
Aegean Airlines was founded in 1987 and offers flights between 50 Greek and international destinations. Around six million people used the carrier’s service last year.
The firm joined the Star Alliance partnership – consisting of 26 airlines including Austrian Airlines (AUA) and its new owner Lufthansa – last May.
