German shipping company Hamburg Süd is to end its Mediterranean-Caribbean service and enter a slot-charter agreement for German transport company Hapag-Lloyd's MGX service instead, Logistics Finland reports. The shipping firm said this will maintain the coverage of ports on the Gulf coast of Mexico, the Atlantic and Gulf coast of the US and in the Mediterranean. It will also raise the frequency. Six ships with 3,200 teu will be used. The new service is subject to the approval of the Federal Maritime Commission. If it gets green light in time it will start on 2 March 2010.
