With immediate effect, Hamburg Süd will be calling at the TCEEGE Terminal in Aliaga instead of Izmir (Alsancak) on the Northern Route of its Europe – Mediterranean Service. The first port call in Aliaga, which lies 55 kilometres north of Izmir, in Nemrut Bay, will be on 26 March 2010 with the “Nicoline Maersk”.
TCEEGE is a deep-water terminal featuring sufficient capacity both seaward and landward which is guaranteeing a fast congestion-free handling. In addition, the nearby rail station provides a fast link to the industrial areas in northern Turkey.
With the port call in Aliaga – via the Northern Route of EMS – and that in Izmir (Alsancak) – via the Southern Route of EMS – Hamburg Süd will be offering two port calls a week in the region around Izmir from now on.
The new Northern Route of EMS has the following port rotation: Felixstowe – Bremerhaven – Gothenburg – Aarhus – Antwerp – Gioia Tauro – Piraeus – Kumport – Gebze-Evyap – Aliaga – Gioia Tauro – Valencia – Felixstowe.
The Southern Route of EMS has the port rotation: Felixstowe – Hamburg – Antwerp – Valencia – Alexandria – Beirut – Lattakia – Mersin – Izmir – Salerno – Felixstowe.
