The air carrier Aviastar-TU has asked Lufthansa Consulting (LCG) for assistance to enable the company to fulfill the requirements of the EU ETS directive coming into effect from 2012.
As Aviastar-TU operates most of its flights to the EU, it is affected by the new regulations. The airline aims to establish a status of compliance with the EU ETS and define which actions have to be taken to be well-prepared, in particular, for passing the verification audit at the end of this year/beginning of 2011.
Lufthansa Consulting reviewed the monitoring plans submitted by Aviastar-TU as well as the operations manuals and the relevant organizational charts. During June 2010 a team of LCG experts worked on the status quo analysis on-site together with the client in Zhukovskiy. In cooperation with the relevant stakeholders they evaluated the existing processes relevant for ETS conformity, the corresponding databases and IT systems and compared these items with those reported in the monitoring plans. The consultants identified gaps in an open items list and delivered recommendations on how to close them in a high-level action plan including responsibilities for the necessary measures.
Lufthansa Consulting has developed profound knowledge of the new EU ETS regulations and provides expert services. The consultants assist airlines in the implementation of the directive within their organization, planning and cooperating with potential verifiers and the competent authorities in the various administering member states. In cooperation with their partner First Climate, Lufthansa Consulting furthermore offers support for emissions certificate trading and risk management.
