AADA levies peak season surcharge from Korea/China

The AADA (Asia Australia Discussion Agreement) member shipping lines have implemented a peak season surcharge (PSS) from September 1, 2010 to assist carriers to recover in part the extra cost incurred due to upsurge of cargo movements, the Shipping Gazette informs.
From 1st September, 2010 outward shipments with origin in Korea, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan to ports and points in Australia will be levied a PSS of US$300 per TEU and US$600 per FEU on top of the ocean freight.
AADA is a voluntary discussion agreement of 14 ocean carriers serving the trade from north and east Asia to destinations in Australia. Members include ANL Singapore, CSCL, Cosco, Gold Star-Zim, Hamburg Sud, Hapag-Lloyd, Hanjin, Hyundai, "K" Line, Maersk, MSC, MOL, NYK and OOCL.
