Mediterranean Shipping Company, S.A., (MSC) has announced the launch of I-Med, a new direct service from India to the Mediterranean, in consortium with Shipping Corporation of India (SCI). The service is scheduled to commence on August 26.
MSC will deploy four vessels while SCI will deploy two on the service, according to Exim News Service.
The weekly service will have the following port rotation: Colombo, JN Port, Mundra, Salalah, Port Said, Istanbul, Barcelona, Genoa, La Spezia, Port Said, Salalah, Colombo.
With a direct call at Istanbul, MSC will now offer the best transits in the trade to Istanbul and via Istanbul, which includes ports in Turkey, Greece, Egypt, Israel and a full range of Black Sea ports.
The I-Med service will augment the existing services MSC operates from India to Europe—two from South and East India via Colombo, namely the ‘Aussie Jeddah’ and the ‘ISES’ service, and the other two from Nhava Sheva and Mundra, namely the ‘IPAK’ service and the ‘ISES’ service.
This new service underlines MSC’s continued commitment to the Indian Subcontinent trade, emphasises a company release.
