Damco announced the nomination of our new Head of Airfreight for Europe. Ricardo van Duijkeren will take on this role 1 February 2011 and brings over 30 years of airfreight experience to the European region.
Ricardo joined Damco four years ago as airfreight manager for the Netherlands. With his expertise in the airfreight business he managed, together with his team, to grow the organisation into one of the leading airfreight organisations within Damco globally. During 2010, Ricardo combined this with the role of Supply Chain Manager for the Netherlands, in which he together with his team managed to accomplish clear strategic steps forward.
In his new position, Ricardo will be responsible for expanding Damco‘s growing airfreight business in the European region. Ricardo will report to the COO Europe, and will not only be responsible for developing the Damco airfreight product but will define and drive Damco‘s commercial strategy on airfreight in Europe overall.
Ricardo's full focus will be on his current role in the Netherlands until the end of January 2011. As from February, he will take on his new task and lead our airfreight strategy going forward to new levels.
“I look forward to heading the Damco European Airfreight team, further building on our capabilities to meet our customers’ needs and deliver on promises. I think Damco has tremendous potential in Airfreight and I am proud of being able to contribute to Damco's growth strategy now in this business segment”, Ricardo says.
Remo Eigenmann, Global Head of Airfreight for Damco says: “We have ambitious plans to grow our Airfreight business and it has therefore been important for us to find the right person with the experience and strength we were looking for. We are very pleased that Ricardo saw the same opportunities for Damco Airfreight as we do and wanted to join the team as new Head of Europe”.
