Senegal Airlines takes off

The new national carrier of Senegal – Senegal Airlines, has received its first two leased Airbus A320 aircraft (6V-AIH and 6V-AII) on January the 19th, allowing it to commence scheduled operations on January the 25th with an inaugural flight from Dakar to Conakry.
The new carrier replaces the liquidated Air Senegal International and is a division of the holding company, GAS - Groupe Air Senegal.
The airline is currently focusing on gaining the Western African market share, by linking the capital Dakar with Bamako, Banjul, Bissau, Conakry, Niamey, Nouakchott and Ouagadougou. More destinations will be launched across the region shortly.
The Dubai-based consultancy tasc aviation was instrumental in helping the Senegalese launch their new national airline, providing its start me-up consultancy solution which provides the complete assistance in airline formation – from business planning to cabin project management, aircraft inspection and delivery as well as AOC process management.
The Head of Airline Strategy at tasc aviation Vladimir Ponjevic commented on this great success for his company; “We take great pride in being an Airbus entity and a Dubai-based company, and successfully launching Senegal Airlines in record time. It was a great challenge and a thrilling experience and we wish the Chairman, Cheikh Diong and the CEO, Mr Badiali, all the best in growing and developing the new carrier.”
