DHL partners with Bahrain CAA for Paris Air Show

DHL is partnering with Bahrain’s Civil Aviation Affairs when it participates in the Paris Air Show in June, reputed to be the world's largest aviation event. The Bahrain group will showcase and promote the Kingdom’s aviation sector, including the forthcoming Bahrain international Airshow, which will be held at the Sakhir Air Base from 19 to 21 January 2012.
“We are delighted to support the Bahrain CAA in promoting The Kingdom of Bahrain as an aviation hub to the rest of the world,” said Ian Carey, Vice President, Aviation, DHL Express – Asia Pacific, East Europe, Middle East and Africa. “DHL is a strong part of Bahrain’s aviation history. DHL Express has been here for 30 years and has based its Middle East air network operations in Bahrain for 18 years.”
Historically, Bahrain was a gateway between East and West, whilst more recently it has become a strategic hub for the Northern Gulf. As part of Bahrain’s Vision 2030, the CAA is driving the growth of the aviation sector in the Kingdom.
“The Paris Air Show, which takes place every two years, is an important event for us to participate in as it gathers together key industry figures from the aviation world. We are delighted to have the support of DHL at the Paris Air Show, as our long term aviation partner. Together we are able to immediately demonstrate the benefits of Bahrain as a regional gateway,” said Capt Abdulraham Al Gaoud, Undersecretary for Civil Aviation Affairs.
DHL Aviation EEMEA is a designated cargo carrier for the Kingdom. The airline has been a long standing participant of the Bahrain aviation sector and was issued Air Operators Certificate No 3.
Bahrain is a very important point of connectivity for DHL’s global network. Each week, almost 100 flights are operated on behalf of DHL to / from the Kingdom. These include regional flights and long-haul intercontinental flights.
“In the last couple of years, DHL has made a significant investment in its air network, particularly in its dedicated intercontinental network services. As a direct result, we have seen a marked increase in the number of flights operated to / from Bahrain. With this ramp up of activity, Bahrain has become an even more important element of our global network,” said Ian Carey, Vice President, Aviation, DHL Express – Asia Pacific, East Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Our services are operating as smoothly and efficiently, as they have always done, and we look forward to many more years of successful cooperation with the CAA of Bahrain.”
