Sudan and Chad and EIB to sign a tripartite agreement

Sudan, Chad and Export Import Bank of China are planning to sign a tripartite agreement to secure funds for a $2bn rail corridor linking Sudan and Chad.
The rail line will connect Chad's capital city of N'Damena to Nyala in West Sudan, and from there it will link up to the existing railroad leading to Sudan's capital Khartoum and the Red Sea harbour of Port Sudan.
The rail corridor will allow trains to run at 120km/hr, transporting goods directly from landlocked Chad to the Red Sea.
According to reports the project is expected to start in October this year, Railway Technology informs.
