Air China handled 103,100 tonnes of freight


Latest operating results posted Air China showed that the carrier handled 103,100 tonnes of freight in September, down 2.5 per cent year on year but up 11.7 per cent over August.
In this month, the carrier's passenger volume grew 5.8 per cent year on year but slid 8.5 per cent month on month to 4.2 million persons.
An unspecified senior official from Air China said, on the cargo sector, movement and turnover on domestic and regional lines (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau) both recorded year-on-year and month-on-month increase, but dropped on international lines. On passenger sector, both turnover and movement in whether international, domestic or regional lines all recorded growth but fell month on month.
In September, the carriers' cargo capacity rose 3.5 per cent year on year but turnover fell 6.2 per cent. Cargo movement also dropped 2.5 per cent. Load factor was 57.7 per cent, 5.9 percentage points less than in the same month in 2010.
On passenger sector, capacity increased 3.5 per cent, while turnover went up 9.1 per cent. On domestic lines, capacity rose 4.6 per cent, turnover grew 6.7 per cent. On international liners, capacity grew 13.6 per cent, while turnover climbed 12.8 per cent. On regional lines, capacity went up 9.6 per cent, turnover increased 11.9 per cent.
Passenger load factor was 82.8 per cent, 0.8 percentage points more than in the same month last year. Domestic line load factor went 1.7 percentage points up. Regional line load factor grew 1.5 percentage points. International line load factor decreased 0.6 percentage points, the Shipping Gazette reports.
