Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral save fuel with IT solutions from Lufthansa Systems

  01.11.2011

Lufthansa Systems today announced that Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral will use flight and load planning solutions from Lufthansa Systems to significantly reduce its fuel consumption and operating costs. Argentina’s national carrier has signed agreements for the leading Lido/Flight flight planning system as well as the NetLine/Load weight & balance solution. Aerolíneas Argentinas is the latest customer in the growing South American airline market to opt for solutions from Lufthansa Systems, and the first customer for NetLine/Load in this region.
“Lufthansa Systems is an experienced provider whose extensive expertise will certainly benefit us. Optimized routes and improved load planning will make our flight operations more efficient so that we can continue to grow and strengthen our position in the market,” said Mariano Recalde, President of Aerolíneas Argentinas.
Lido/Flight takes a number of different factors into account when calculating the optimal route for each flight. This can reduce fuel costs by up to five percent. NetLine/Load is used for over 3,500 flights each day, making it one of the world’s leading weight & balance solutions. The system optimizes the load distribution on board, resulting in a higher payload and greater revenue potential. Alternatively, fuel consumption can be lowered by up to 0.5 percent.
“We already have close connections with Argentina through our Customer Service Center in Buenos Aires, and our cooperation with Aerolíneas Argentinas will strengthen this relationship. Our systems will make a valuable contribution to the future growth of the airline, and it will expand our footprint in this important growth market,” said Klaus Bernhardt, Senior Vice President Regional Management Americas at Lufthansa Systems.
