Chopin Airport traffic up 1% in November

Chopin Airport served 642 thousand passengers in November 2011, a 1 percent increase year on year.
“The November figures continue to reflect a steady upward trend in the number of passengers handled at Warsaw airport. We would have done better if the airport hadn’t been closed on 1st and 2nd November following the emergency landing of LOT Polish Airline’s Boeing 767,” said Radosław Żuk, Director of Chopin Airport’s Public Relations Bureau.
The airport handled a total of 8.7 million passengers from January to November 2011, 7.3% more than in the corresponding period last year.
Passengers on domestic and international routes rose by 16.9% and 6.1%, reaching 987 thousand and 7.7 million respectively. The number of aircraft movements in November 2011 fell by 5.5% year-on-year to 10.5 thousand.
Chopin Airport is the largest airport in Poland. It handles scheduled, charter and cargo traffic. In 2010, the airport served over 8.7 million passengers (138.6 thousand aircraft movements), which represented nearly 43% of Poland’s passenger traffic.
