Chongqing Airport Group predicts that air cargo will top 220,000 tonnes this year of which 80 per cent of 80,000 tonnes of international air freight will be composed of IT products, including 55,000 tonnes of locally-made laptops.
Singapore SIA Cargo service will bring an extra weekly capacity of 180 tonnes to Chongqing airport. The number of international cargo flights from Chongqing will increase to 30 weekly while total capacity will rise to 2,800 tonnes per week.
SIA Cargo is planning to increase frequency of the new service to one flight per day early next year.
Via SIA Cargo's network, the cargo using this service can transit to India, Middle East, Australia, Europe, Africa and other Asia Pacific regions.
