AMI celebrates first 6 months of Click2Ship USA

The US arm of Air Menzies International (AMI) – a trade-only airfreight and express wholesaler – is celebrating the successful first six months of its new Click2Ship product. Click2Ship is now in use with 200 of AMI’s US freight agent customers, with an average of more than three people using the service at each location. Click2Ship has also attracted completely new customers to the company.
Click2Ship is a global, door-to-door, all-inclusive express product that provides instant online quotes, bookings and tracking 24/7. To preserve AMI’s renowned trade-only neutrality, access to Click2Ship is password protected; new customers must pre-register, while existing AMI online customers can log in using their normal details. 
The service covers exports to 220 countries from the USA, and caters for shipments ranging from an envelope up to 150 kilos, and up to fifty packages. Shipments can comprise documents, personal effects and general cargo,  but hazardous cargo is excluded. Click2Ship services from the USA are currently based on one of the world’s leading integrators; as the service is expanded, other suppliers will also be included. 
AMI USA will also introduce Click2Ship Imports later in 2012: this will operate inbound to the USA from AMI locations in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, China and the UK. 
Click2Ship’s online quote facility instantly calculates all-inclusive freight prices. Entering dimensions calculates the chargeable weight and provides a total cost which includes collection, air transportation, fuel and security surcharges, Customs clearance at destination and final delivery. Customers can add optional insurance, and choose to use their own agent at destination. 
With a single click, quotes can be converted to bookings, after which customers are sent an email confirmation. Click2Ship also prints consignment notes and labels. Customers can re-visit the site to track shipments, searching by job number or AWB number. Throughout all processes, customers can use the live chat facility to obtain help from an AMI service agent. Future bookings are made easier too, as Click2Ship stores details of all past shipments, and re-keying of previously-entered data is alleviated by auto-filling of data fields. 
An early user of AMI Click2Ship was Weiss-Rohlig, whose Export Manager Vlad Fruman says: “Click2ship is another great idea from AMI, using its global buying with major integrators to offer freight forwarders a competitive trade-only solution for small packages. We are much more comfortable feeding this traffic through AMI, because we know they are never a competitor and so our customer relationship remains safe.”
Adds AMI’s Senior VP – Americas, Peter Weir: “The impressive growth of Click2hip to date has been based largely on recommendation. We deliberately avoided heavy promotion in order to allow the product to bed in. Now we have had six months of live operation - and the system and service are fully-functional, and have proven totally robust. So we now have the confidence to roll out Click2Ship more aggressively in the marketplace, and build traffic levels. In addition, we will be launching C2S Imports in the first quarter of 2012. 
“Click2Ship means US freight agents can win business with instant quotes, and door-to-door rates that are lower than airline airport-to-airport minimums. And at the same time, they can retain a sensible margin for themselves. Once again, this is AMI helping small- and mid-size agents to compete on level terms with the major multi-nationals.”
