United Continental December's revenue passenger miles fall 0.7pc


Chicago-based United Continental Holdings Inc has reported a 0.7 per cent year-on-year fall in consolidated traffic - revenue passenger miles - in December, according to the Shipping Gazette. 
This stood against the consolidated capacity (available seat miles) which fell 0.1 per cent with the carriers combined consolidated load factor in December slipping 0.5 per cent over the same period in 2010.
United and Continental's December 2011 combined consolidated and mainline passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) increased an estimated four to five per cent and 3.5 to 4.5 per cent respectively as compared to December 2010.
United Continental Holdings owns United and Continental Airlines. Together with United Express, Continental Express and Continental Connection, these operate an average of 5,717 flights a day to 376 airports on six continents from their hubs in Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Guam, Houston, Los Angeles, New York/Newark Liberty, San Francisco, Tokyo and Washington, DC.
