ICTSI to get cranes

Manila's International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI) has placed orders with Cargotec, the Helsinki-based cargo-handling equipment provider, for expanding its terminals in Mexico and the Philippines, according to the Shipping Gazette.
For its Manzanillo terminal which is under construction to provide an annual capacity of 450,000 TEU on the west coast of Mexico, ICTSI will receive four super postpanamax Kalmar quay cranes and 10 rubber-tyre gantries (RTGs) early next year.
In the Philippines, ICTSI's main Manila International Container Terminal, will receive eight RTGs for Berth 6 after it opens in June when it will begin to handle 65 per cent of the facility's throughput to reach an annual capacity of 2.5 million TEU from its present 1.9 million TEU to 2.5 million TEU.
ICTSI operates 22 container terminals and port projects in 17 countries.
