Air Cargo India 2012' - the 4th Biennial International Conference and Expo concluded on a successful note at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, India.
The event was conceived to highlight India as the land of opportunities for the Air Cargo industry. Naseem Zaidi, Secretary-Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India and H.E. Pule I. Malefane, Consulate General of The Republic of South Africa inaugurated the event.
Themed "Air Cargo in India-Building sustainability and prosperity", the event was represented by 58 exhibitors from various sectors of the Air Cargo industry from 24 nations displaying their world-class products and services, specifically designed for the air transport industry.
The cream of the industry leaders dwelt upon various topics at the conference ranging from the status of the air cargo industry in India and the world over post the economic revival, Integrating India's potential & global needs. Ground Handling at various Indian airports, role of IT in Developing Air Cargo in India, focus on cargo terminals were some of the key issues discussed.
289 delegates from across the globe including Russia, China, USA, Europe, India, Australia, Canada, Singapore, and Africa took part in the deliberations stretched over the three days. About 3000 (2977) trade visitors from around the world attended the exhibition to explore business prospects. Many delegates and exhibitors made new business deals or acquired new clients through the networking channels of Air Cargo India 2012 event. Allied Aviation clicked a deal with an international airline in the Indian market and Rus Aviation will begin to fly to Nasik Airport. These are among the few more deals that materialized during the event. Many were of the opinion that STAT Times is growing with each event and provides a great networking base for them.
Another highlight of the event was the GACAG Pharma Shippers Interactive forum organized by STAT Times at the event, which was stimulating and informative. Delegates who attended the forum were of the opinion that it will progress further with more participants and the backing of the pharma shipping industry in India.
The BBC World News presenter- Aaron Heslehurst and Harpreet A. de Singh of Air India, were moderators for the conference. They also anchored the evening networking functions.

These were presented during the biennial international Air Cargo events organised by STAT Times. The STAT Times Gala Award at Leela Kempinski, Mumbai had 24 awards being conferred upon achievers in different sectors of the Air Cargo industry in India and internationally as well. Emirates SkyCargo bagged the ‘Air Cargo Carrier of the Year’ for the third consecutive time again. Ram Menen, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice–President Cargo, received the award. “An award of this stature is testimony to the quality of our efforts and encourages us to further raise the bar in customer satisfaction. It also demonstrates the goodwill we enjoy amongst our customers. We are confident of being the first choice for our customers and to give our alliances worldwide added value through customised offerings, wide route network and the highest possible quality," says Menen. The climactic moment of the night was the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ presented to Stan Wraight, Managing Partner, Strategic Aviation Solutions International (SASI) by STAT Media Group Editor-in-Chief R.K. Patra for his lifetime contribution to the global air cargo industry. “This is a deep honor for me and one I will cherish. Seeing also those young people from my past in the audience made it an event I will always remember,” said Wraight.
All in all the event was well appreciated by all exhibitors and participants who are now excitingly looking forward to the 2nd biennial Air Cargo Africa 2013 event to be organized again by STAT Times in Johannesburg, South Africa.
