DP World Intermodal operates first Maersk dedicated train to Mundra

  27.03.2012

DP World Intermodal flagged off a dedicated train from ACTL Faridabad carrying 90 TEUs of Maersk Line export boxes to connect to the line’s maiden vessel call (ME1 service) at MICT. Being the first Maersk dedicated train from ACTL Faridabad, the event was attended by the management and staff of ACTL, Maersk Line, DP World Intermodal, and the shipper, Synergy Freightways, Exim News Service reports.
Commented Mr Vivek Sharma, COO of DP World Intermodal, "We are proud to be associated with a global leader like Maersk, and being its prime rail operator are committed to provide its customers the services expected from the leader in shipping trade. We welcome Maersk Line to MICT and hope it will be a boon for trade in north India."
Mr Deepak Malik, General Manager Operations, Maersk Line, said: "With Maersk Line bringing their premier Europe service at Mundra, our endeavour is to ensure seamless intermodal coverage to our valued customers like Synergy Freightways. It is definitely another feather in the hat of CRRS/DP World Intermodal, who continue to deliver extremely strong rail products from NCR to north-western gateway ports."
Mr Arun Kachru, CEO of ACTL, said, "In pursuit of our strong commitment to the trade, we continuously endeavour to explore options of faster and at the same time cost-effective ways of providing connectivity between ACTL and the gateway ports for ex-im cargo. A dedicated train for Maersk Line containers to connect Mundra is another milestone in realising our overall objective".
DP World Intermodal is the ‘prime vendor’ of Maersk at ACTL Faridabad and Loni, connecting the terminals with the gateway ports of Mundra, Pipavav and NSICT.
