Alataw Pass Kazakhstan border volume declines 1.8pc
Northwest China's overland checkpoint bordering Kazakhstan, Alataw Pass, posted a 1.8 per cent decrease year on year in import and export freight volume to 8.14 million tonnes in the first four months, reports Xinhua.
The import cargo fell 4.3 per cent to 6.23 million tonnes while the export grew 7.6 per cent to 1.91 million tonnes. The import cargo mainly was a high value-added product like crude oil and iron ore, while the exports were mineral building materials and containers.
The total trade value increased 4.1 per cent to US$5.29 billion of which the import fell 9.8 per cent to $3 billion and the export grew 95.7 per cent to $1.28 billion. The customs revenue went up 4.6 per cent to CNY4.93 billion (US$774 million).
