To cover peak season demand, Hamburg Süd and its partners CCNI, China Shipping, Hanjin and Hyundai will reconfigure their service between Asia and Mexico/West Coast South America. The new service will continue to operate with two slings at increased capacity and new rotations, starting with South America configuration this month, finalising with Asia configuration at the end of August 2012, according to the Exim News Service.
Sling 1 will see the deployment of ten vessels with capacity between 4,500 and 5,700 TEUs (nominal) (previously eleven 5,500-TEU vessels). The port rotation in Sling 1, starting June 2012, is as follows: Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Hong Kong, Busan, Manzanillo (Mexico), Lazaro Cardenas, Callao, Iquique, Puerto Angamos, Valparaiso, Keelung.
