The Fiege Group, a logistics provider headquartered in Germany, Greven is now even expanding its media logistics in other European countries: Starting July 2012, the media logistics at the Zurich head office of Tamedia in Switzerland will be secured by Fiege Logistik (Switzerland) AG.
Tamedia is a Swiss media group headquartered in Zurich whose daily newspapers and weekly periodicals, magazines and online platforms as well as newspaper print shops are amongst Switzerland’s leading media enterprises. Fiege Logistik (Switzerland) AG is part of the Fiege Group which in Germany has been providing customised supply chain services for numerous renowned publishing houses, including Frankfurter Allgemeine and Handelsblatt, partially for over ten years now.
“We were able to convince Tamedia through our long-standing and successful co-operation with our many publishers in Germany”, explains Peter Scherbel, Chairman of the Fiege Group, “since Fiege Logistik Switzerland has this very knowledge and experience in media logistics. This proved in the end the obvious reason for the decision in favour of us as a partner.”
Fiege Logistik Switzerland will update the Zurich media logistics with modern IT programmes and new process flows. Fiege is in charge of the operational responsibility for the entire supply chain network, especially for planning, order picking and transport. At the same time, Fiege will reorganise and optimise the existing supply chain structures.
All 14 employees handling the Zurich publisher’s logistics will be taken over by Fiege Logistik Switzerland. The central planning of logistics as well as data management of all of Tamedia’s magazine titles will in the future be controlled from Bern.
