Nikon India Pvt. Ltd, a leading company for imaging products, has entrusted DB Schenker its warehousing and 3rd party logistics services for its cameras, digital single-lens reflex cameras (D-SLR), lenses and accessories in India, according to Exim News Service.
The decision is the result of an extensive engagement with Nikon India for more than six months to develop comprehensive solutions based on a network of customised infrastructure and robust warehouse management systems for their logistics and warehousing needs in the country.
The solutions by DB Schenker in India for Nikon include warehousing—inbound and outbound goods management, picking and packing, inventory management and value-added services such as labelling, kitting, accessory management, promo bundling and scanning of serial numbers before distribution to customers across India.
"Our contract logistics services will enable Nikon India to take advantage of our customised infrastructure, IT solution, customised value-added services to improve the productivity and efficiency in their supply chain, and we hope to extend the partnering to provide similar services at other locations in the country in near future," said Mr Shrichand Chimnani, Director - Logistics, Schenker India Pvt. Meanwhile, at the 26th Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCAs) in early June 2012, DB Schenker was honoured with two prestigious logistics industry awards.
During the ceremony in Shanghai, it was presented with the awards for "Best Road Haulier - Asia" and "Best Green Service Provider - Logistics Operator".

This is the second year in a row that DB Schenker has won the Road Haulier award, which is based on criteria such as expertise, service standards and innovation.
It is also the second time that DB Schenker received the Best Green Logistics Provider award since 2009. The award recognises, among others, consistent environmental standards and investments in green technologies and initiatives.
The AFSCAs are organised by Cargonews Asia and signify service providers for their consistency in service quality, innovation, customer relationship management and reliability. Nominations are polled from more than 11,000 readers of Cargonews Asia, which makes the AFSCAs also known as "the Shippers Choice Awards". It has been Asia's leading cargo transport industry awards for the last 26 years.
