ATI plans to expand its capacity

Port operator Asian Terminals Inc (ATI) plans to expand its capacity at the Manila South Harbour to over one million TEU and improve efficiency to support greater volumes.
"Aligned with the programme, ATI will complete the crane rail extension at Pier 3 by year-end as a lead-up to the deployment of additional quayside cranes that will further increase berth capacity at South Harbour," according to the Shipping Gazette.
ATI said it is also taking delivery of two rubber tyre gantry cranes (RTG) early next year in addition to other container-handling equipment to further boost yard productivity.
The port operator earmarked PHP1.4 billion (US$33.5 million) in capital expenditures for 2012 to bankroll the acquisition of equipment and other civil works as part of its investment commitment with the Philippine Ports Authority.
