“Cargill” will construct a Complex in the port of Illichіvsk

  22.10.2012

On Thursday, October 18, 2012 Alexander Grigorashenko, General Director of  the Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk and Mikhail Ganevitch, General Director of Cargill A.T., LLC (Ukraine) signed a Letter of Intent.
In the final document, signed by the parties, it is indicated that Cargill A.T., LLC  intends to take part in the concession tender for one of the investment objects in the port of Illichivsk. The investment project is supposed to be implemented in the territory adjacent to the berth No. 10 and, in case of successful bidding, the Company intends to construct a grain and oilseeds storage and Handling Complex with a capacity up to 4,5 million tons per year.
“Signing of a Letter of Intent with Cargill A.T., LLC is a great step for the port and for the country. It is a clear and understandable message to international companies to make investments into the Ukrainian ports. This became possible due to the Law “On Sea Ports of Ukraine” adopted by the Parliament of Ukraine. This is a real response of the global business community to reforming processes in Ukrainian maritime industry,” - commented on the above event Alexander Grigorashenko.
According to Alexander Grigorashenko, negotiations with the company «Cargill» took place in several stages, in a constructive manner, and therefore resulted in a protocol of intent.
The delegation of Cargill included David Mac Lennan, President of the Company, Emery Koenig, Executive Vice President, Anne Mac Millan Pedrero and John Mac Millan, Board Members.
On the Ukrainian part the talks had been attended by Igor Gorobets, the First Deputy Director of the Department for State Policy in Maritime and River Transport and Valery Khmelnyuk, the Mayor of Illichivsk.
