Lufthansa Cargo signs India's top IT provider's for iCargo platform

Lufthansa Cargo is to use IBS Software Services' (IBS) iCargo platform in what is considered to be the biggest IT contract in the air cargo sector, according to the Shipping Gazette.
The Kerala-based IT firm co-developed the air cargo management system with five major carriers in 2005 and it is now a market leader. IBS develops IT solutions across all areas of the air transportation industry - passenger, cargo and airline and airport operations.
Customers include airlines, airports, cruise lines, oil and gas companies and hotels. IBS has seen major airlines switch to IBS' solutions including Austrian Airlines, Nippon Cargo Airways, All Nippon Airways and Tokyo International Air Cargo Terminal following collaboration with South African Airways Cargo, Gulf Air, Air New Zealand Cargo, Qantas Freight and Australian Air Express.
The company started up in 1997 at Trivandum, India with 55 employees and attracted US$60 million from US-based equity and venture capital General Atlantic LLC.
It will go ahead with a long-touted Initial Public Offering (IPO) in 2013 following its decade of acquisitions in both the UK and the US. It operates out of 14 countries in the US and has software development offices in Atlanta, Bangalore, Boston, Cochin, London, Tokyo, and Trivandrum.
