Denver International Airport Passenger Traffic Sets January Record

Yesterday marked the 18th anniversary of Denver International Airport (DIA), and another record-setting month of passenger traffic.
A total of 4,024,783 passengers passed through DIA in January, representing a 3.1 percent increase over January 2012. It is also the first January that passenger traffic has topped four million travelers.
The report comes on the heels of DIA’s busiest year ever. In 2012, more than 53 million passengers used the airport, setting an all-time record for DIA and marking the fifth consecutive year that more than 50 million people have traveled through the airport annually.
“The continued increase in travelers using Denver International Airport is a great way to start off 2013,” said Aviation Manager Kim Day. “The record number of passengers shows the positive turn in the economy and that DIA continues to be the airport of choice for millions of travelers and our airline partners.”
Also in January, freight and express cargo operations saw an 11.1 percent increase, from 36,969,503 pounds of cargo handled in 2012 to 41,060,157 pounds of cargo handled in 2013. Air Mail cargo decreased 13.6 percent, from 3,413,504 pounds in 2012 to 2,950,362 pounds in 2013. There was a slight decrease in flight operations, from 49,541 in 2012 to 47,856 in 2013.
